What’s wilder: bonding TWO dragons or finding out your childhood best friend wouldn’t bend a single rule to save your life? Spoiler: it’s both.

This week, we cover chapters 14–17 of Fourth Wing, where Violet somehow bonds two dragons (because one isn’t chaotic enough), Tynan gets toasted, and Dane proves he’s exactly who we thought he was. We dive into Violet’s dagger-wielding showdown, Xaiden’s habit of casually bending the rules to keep her alive, and Tairn’s dramatic “I’m here to save the day” entrance. Plus, we’ve got thoughts on dragon politics, a shocking betrayal, and why Tairn might just be the grumpy dragon best friend we all need. This episode has everything: drama, dragons, and Dane being the worst.

(Transcribed by TurboScribe.ai. Go Unlimited to remove this message.) Welcome to Pillow Talk and Paperbacks, the podcast where a husband and wife tackle romanticy books when dramatic chapter out of time. I'm Mary Angelica and I'm all in for an epic love story. And I'm Christian here to question every life choice these characters make. We're here for the plot twist, the chaos, and a whole lot of laughs. All after wrangling our three boys to bed and finally claiming the couch for ourselves. So get cozy, grab a book, and let me remind you why none of this makes any sense. Right now where I'm making my way through a fourth wing, which my wife has already read. And if you guys recall, this is the point where I couldn't stop reading the book, right? So I forced myself to stop. So we're going to be covering 14 through 17. Correct. Yeah, so we're going to cover 14 through 17. He has not read any further down the book, which is exciting, which means you can read today and actually know what happens next. Oh, I can't wait. You actually can't wait. I know. I know. I know. I'm not exaggerating. Okay, so we start with chapter 14. So on the very last one, we ended with the fact that she was facing three men. I wasn't going to call them men, but they're kind of boys, but you know, three stooches, but they're not funny. Right. These three bad guys who are here to kill on Darnell. We now know it's on Darnell. They're here to kill the Golden Dragon. And Zayden shows up. He's just leading against a tree, looking as fine as ever. And Segail is there and she's like, I wouldn't do that if I were you. Yeah, Segail's looking a little bit upset, but she's not intervening about by any means. No. And this is where she goes crazy with the daggers. Yeah, it's pretty neat. So obviously, you know, Zayden's like, listen, I don't think you should be doing this. And there's nothing about squad loyalty right now. They're, you know, Taren, what is it? Tainin? These names. Tainin is not happening. He's like, I don't care about squads. We're killing pilot and we're killing this dragon, right? So they basically say squads don't mean shit. And so as they eventually, they roar a cry of battle towards her and they're all running towards her, she throws her daggers. One hits Jack in the shoulder and he drops his sword, his arm is shot, essentially. Tainin gets one to his thigh and he actually slows down and, you know, at least isn't getting to her as fast as possible. And the other one reaches her, swipes at her, but she nails down and slices his thighs, his inner thighs, and his ribs, his ribs. Oren, that's Oren. Exactly. And at this point, what does Jack do? It runs away. Like what you would expect him to do. He does. Right? Like, he lets him know to kill her and then he runs. Remember, yeah, I remember bullies, like if you don't stand up to them, they will continue. Right? So in this case, finally, when it's like, fuck you, here's a dagger to the shoulder. Yeah, but he's in pain. He's crying. He's a killer and then he takes off. She says something pretty cool. She's kind of like the thing about having weak joints is that you know exactly where to strike. And it's true. She knows exactly what will cause the biggest weakness and what will make his arm essentially useless. Yeah. And I got to be honest, like her chances were not looking good, right? Because golden dragon here was not really cooperating. And she lost and she like rolled her ankle. So she's also not about to be running around anywhere. She's just standing there, protecting this dragon. Just like being hunted. Yeah. And she does look at the dragon a couple times. And it's like, so are you going or you're not going? Like, he's not she she I'm sorry. No, she's not going. So a Zaden can't interfere, but he that doesn't stop him from letting her know where the, you know, warnings are. So he's like behind you over there. So he's narrating along the way. What were your thoughts on having him show up to the, you know, take care of her in this way? Because I know I was like, Oh my gosh, are you reading this chapter just as fast? I was. Yeah. So here's the thing. He knows he can't interfere, but he's not willing to take a chance. Like he has, he trusts her that she'll, you know, be able to manage. Yeah, he's like jumping in just in case I'm going to stick around. And I'm going to just bend the rules a bit so that I can help if needed. Yeah. Yeah. And I think that's so cool. I think this is another one of those moments we see. Okay. He's really not about to kill her. He's over here. Maybe he's just confused in his own thoughts as well. But in this moment, he's not having her be killed in this way. He's almost entertained, I think, also. Or he's intrigued by Sorengell. Yeah. And it's like, it's that idea of like rules be damned, which is another, you know, big difference between him and Dane. First time we say him to his name in this chapter, we're going to say him a little bit more. He's in a few of these chapters. Yeah. So okay. So we see that at the, at the very end, Oren is passed down on the floor. Yeah. At some point he gets passed out during battle battle. Jack has run off and Tynan's like, I'm going to come up and kill you. And he's running torture with the sword, holding it with two hands. And then all of a sudden he stops and he starts to shrink back. Zaden has already moved into defense position, but he doesn't even need to defend because he starts going back. Here's another dragon shows up. Oh, the big one. The big one thoughts. Well, I thought the dad showed up, right? Like I was like the little dragon's dad. It's my first thought because you know, he was like under his wing. Yeah. You know, and it's the black dragon that you didn't see this coming at all. Right? I didn't. I really didn't. I thought that Segyal was going to jump in because at that point I thought the dragon was her. But obviously there was another party, interested party that came into the picture here. Yeah. And he says, step aside, silver one. What do you think of that? Okay. So that was trippy because I was like, who said that? Like I didn't, I wasn't quite registering. Yeah. It's just like an italics in the book. Yeah. And then when I was like, Oh, shit, the dragon's talking to her. So what do you think? Well, at that point, I was like, don't you know that we're going to talk? No, I didn't. I didn't. I wasn't expecting this at all. I really thought the dragon was going to come in like, you know, torch someone and move on, you know, because in my head, I'm like, it's a little one that that via this product. But I didn't think the dragons could talk at all in the book. Well, I knew they could talk to their out to their owners, their writers. Okay. Right. I knew that. And I think it's maybe something you told me a while back before I was in the book or maybe it was already in like a previous chapter somewhere. Yeah, who knows? But I wasn't expecting it right now. And it was, it was surprising. I was pretty shocked. Okay. So he calls her silver one. This is his nickname for her. And he's pissed. He's like, nobody's, nobody's kind of come over here and be killing any of my my kind. Right. So as Dynan runs away, he literally just burns, he just burns everything, literally a whole path burned and the body of somebody burned along the way as well. And so Orin is passed out, still unconscious. And so, you know, Taryn is like, you should actually end the enemy at your feet, you should kill him. And violet decides not to. I didn't think she would. It was like, there's no, there's no chance that she's going to do this. Part of me was like, well, or if she doesn't kill anyone, yeah, like maybe this is the moment where like everything changes. And now she becomes a little bit more like selfless, a little more selfish. Yeah, a little more selfish. And decides to to look out for herself. But she didn't. She was like, that's not me. So Orin came to killer. So he's if he stays alive, he could either bond a dragon and then come kill her after or come kill her regardless. So do you feel like this is going to bite her in the ass later? Or do you feel like, no, this was just a moment of like a weakling who ends up kind of because we find out later, he's doing my kitchen duty. Yeah, exactly. No, I do think it's going to come back at some point. I'm not sure what capacity I'm not sure if it'll be a big threat. Yeah, yeah. And it's going to prove to us that, you know what, there are some instances where violet does need to be a little bit more violent, just ruthless, you know? Yeah. So okay. And then we have some interesting back and forth between Taren and violet, where he's like, you're bleeding. Stop it. What were your feelings on his personality? Because these are some of the first things you're hearing him say, it's like silver wine move, you need to end the enemy. You're bleeding. Stop it. Do you bleed often? What were your thoughts on his personality? Like, right at the beginning, I actually, right away, I was like, I would like this part. Like, if it was a real person, I would like their, um, their approach. Yeah. He's like a noble shitter. Yeah, straight. But at the same time, he's like, he's not like a ruler, meaning in kind of way, that's just, yeah, he's to the point, you know, direct. And I think he knows that violet, um, is also like that to an extent. Yeah. And he knows her full name. He's like, let's go via it. Violet Torngel. It's like, I know very well you are or something like that. And get on my back. And this is when violet actually realizes he is bonding with her. He's choosing her. And did you know this already by the time that they were talking, you're like, okay, she's going to bond the black one? Well, at this point, yes, right? Because, I was like, the drag, the little one isn't talking to her. So I don't know what, you know, right? Little one's just there. It was just a, a means to a way. It was just a way to bring this black dragon into the picture, I thought. Um, so at this point, I was like, okay, all right, this is a match, you know, I like they're back and forth a lot because violet is, you know, although obviously taken aback by the giantness of the dragon, she's also in such disbelief that she's almost trying to convince taren that he's doing the wrong thing. It's like, wait, wait, wait, I don't want you to make a mistake. Uh, you can't, and by the way, I can't get on your back. I need like an entire ladder to get on your head. Have you seen how big you are? And this, this is just fine. It's like when good shit happens to you in life and you're like, wait, why, why? I mean, like, should this be happening to me? Like, was there a mistake? Like, yeah, you won the lottery. Wait, are you sure you want to get the right person? Right? Yeah, she's just can't, she can't even believe it. And really, she's trying to almost save him from herself. So you don't want me. I'm, and she doesn't even find the words. And he's like, I'm not going to tell you again. You're a writer. Are you not? Get on my back. So this was a neat moment where I think he's just not letting her say anything. Yeah, he's not letting the self doubt get to her. Yeah. So she sits on the dragon back of the dragon and he tells her his full name. And he's like, this is my full name. This is my sentence. See, like he basically tells her a bit of his history. And by the way, you might not remember that. So just call me taren. So this is the name of the dragon that she's bonded. And as they fly off, she realizes she has literally no muscles to hold her in place. And she falls. Yeah, that's it. That's expected. I think your thoughts when you finish that chapter, I was like, well, he's he's going to capture like, you know, that's obviously going to be a thing that happens. But it really shows us how out of her league strength wise, you know, taren is right? It's like there's going to be a lot of training or work that has to be done for her to fully feel comfortable writing taren. Yeah. And it's really interesting because they've set out many times dragons, you know, you can't be making these mistakes. It's like, if you fell and during the gauntlet, you would have died, right? And that's to prepare you for falling off a dragon. And there's nobody to catch you there. So in this case, it's really interesting to see a dragon who is actually going around even that normal. Yeah, he's trying to make it work, right? And he is willing. It's because he's potential, right? And I love the back and forth. He's like, you're making us look bad. Please stop this. And she's like, well, you're doing crazy acrobatics. He's like, I'm just flying. These are hardly acrobatics. And so, you know, they get in there. He realizes like, you got to work on those muscles. You have no inner thigh muscles to hold yourself in place. And at this point, you know, she's kind of trying to again tell her like, I'm actually not as strong as the other writers. And so what were your feelings during this moment? Because she's trying as best she can. But I knew that he was going to come through and kind of like let her know, hey, you may not be like a strong physically, but you've got all these other qualities that make you exactly what I want. And I mean, the fact that this dragon came to the rescue of the other yellow dragon, like that tells you that him and Violet are very similar in many ways. The only difference here is size and strength really, but they're like in every other way. That's very true. That's very wrong. And they come from the same mom. So, you know, you're talking about Mira and Violet? No, no, no, no. I'm a Violet and the dragon. Oh, okay. Yes, I guess that's true. And they do have a little moment here where Taryn says, you know, I, well, Violet first says I didn't think that I would make it this far. She's kind of shocked. And he also says, I didn't think I would either. So we have that in common. You haven't at that. What are your thoughts on that? What are your opinions by that? Well, there's going to be some back story here at some point. I think that we're going to we're going to learn about about Taryn. Well, we can also predict. Yeah, we do. You can also predict that, you know, if he's like one of the most powerful and kind of like admirable dragons around and, you know, it took him a while to get to that point, maybe that's Violet's future too, right? So that's fair. So he twists around. He does all these essentially acrobatics, but he at some she at some point, her legs are shaking. And all of a sudden, she feels like a vice grip around her legs. And she doesn't have to hold on anymore. And she realizes he's compensating. He's actually holding her in with some of his magic slash muscles. And so, you know, this is the way it happens. This is the way she actually gets to stay on the dragon. And he does all these flips in the air. He does all these things. He's like, okay, we made her point. We kind of shown off enough. Let's go. And she does ask why did you choose me? And Taryn says, because you saved her. So there's something going on there with this little dragon. Yeah. And what are your predictions on that? Well, once again, are they, are they actually, like, is that his kid? I don't know. Like, can you have a different color dragon, like a different breed? I don't know if he made it with someone else, right? And then they have this little yellow dragon. Okay. I don't know that there's definitely a bond that we don't fully understand. Well, they do say that we don't we're not allowed to see babies, right? So they do say that like we haven't seen any babies like anywhere. Maybe all babies are yellow at first. And then their color turns. Okay. Maybe. Maybe. Okay. Let's continue. So once we get, you know, into the air flight area, when, you know, we're supposed to arrive once you've bonded, we see that there are hundreds of dragons that are crowded around. I can't even imagine that site, big flying to hundreds of dragons. And they're the 71st pair. So once they land, you know, Taryn is one of the most like the biggest dragons, the most celebrated, he wasn't even supposed to bond this year, right? And she's over here, like rattling off all these things in her mind. And that's when, you know, he says, well, you're the smartest in your year. She wasn't even saying anything out loud, right? This was just her thinking. So here we find out for the first time, because we didn't know that up until this moment that he's communicating all in her mind. Yeah, they're like thoughts. He can read her thoughts in a response. Yeah. And like, that's trippy. Like, I already have voices in my head. If I had a dragon talking to me as well, all day, all day, you can hear all your thoughts would lose my mind. That is wild. When I thought, I'm like, oh, that sounds like, that sounds like no privacy, right? Yeah, exactly. So okay, they come in, you know, she's still in shock. She's like, okay, I'm a writer. Here it is. And so once they land, she stands next to the little yellow dragon. And that's when, you know, she's just thinking, I'm really glad that you're safe. Yeah, you made it. You're alive. Yeah, maybe, you know, I'm glad that I'm glad that you made it. And like at some point, she says, hey, maybe next time, like someone suggests you save yourself, maybe you should do that. And the dragon blinks and actually speaks to her again in her in her mind and says, maybe I was saving you. What were your thoughts when you read that? Oh, wise little dragon here. I don't know, maybe maybe you just think she could just talk to whoever she wanted? Well, no, I didn't. I didn't know it was illegal for dragons to talk to other humans, right? Like I had no idea. So until Violet said it, like literally a sentence later, I think. At this point, I was like, okay, was a dragon there just so that Violet could prove herself? And so that other dragons could see her and, you know, maybe catch onto this and want to bond with her. Okay, that's fair. I don't know. Yeah. So at this one, we still don't know that she's bonding two dragons. And this is the first time she sees her mom. What are your thoughts? I'm seeing you saw the general, you also see general, what's face, malgrin, as well. You've had some weird theories around these people. So they're here. What are your thoughts about, you know, the way that her mom's like, she's not even looking at her really? I got to be honest. When I saw the mom coming to the picture, I was like, okay, at least she's going to take a quick glance at Violet and kind of like smile or like a little nod of approval, you know, and there was none of it, none of that. And I was like, God damn it, this lady. She's so relentless. She didn't have had kids in the first place. And so at some point they say, well, you actually have to go up to the roll keeper. And you have to tell the roll keeper the name of your dragon, right? And so at this point, the one dragon, the one person that's there is like, Oh my gosh, you know, did you actually file it? Did you actually bond? And the mom interruption says, don't say the name. Only until she does. Exactly. Almost like to confirm that she knows the name. That is the she didn't hijack a dragon. Yeah, she's like, how do I even do that? And she still piss at her mom that she can't even congratulate her on what she's done or even believe the fact that her daughter could exactly bond with with tear. Yeah, so she says his name. And you know, the woman that's writing down is like, he's a legend. This is amazing. And then she hears the other dragon's voice with her name. And she's kind of like, what do I do? Holy shit, like this. What do you think? Actually, this was the chapter. I think I was speechless. I think actually let you came in and you were like, I have, I cannot stop here. Yeah, and I was speechless when this happened. Zero, zero, England doesn't have it all. I honestly, so I could have just put it down. Yeah, no. So she has two dragons. At least this is what wants what they want to happen. So chapter 16, beginning to chapter 16, you know, she's like, Oh my gosh, I have two dragons. What's even though he just started to kill a dragon, he just I don't even know how he bonded. Like, how does the other dragon not know that he was so evil enough to want to kill another dragon? Well, that speaks more, speaks more to the dragon, like the dragon's character. And we also find out that apparently his orange scorpion tail has had like a ton of the four riders. Yeah, you know, so maybe they're a very poor judge of character. There's a dragon. Yeah, I agree with that. Yeah. I don't know how common these things are, but like when I when I read like scorpion tell him, it's like, oh, it makes sense. Like nobody likes scorpions, you know, they're kind of poisonous, venomous, whatever it is, like it's also a smaller dragon as well. But you know, Jack is, Jack is freaking out. He's having a whole meltdown. He's like, hey, why do I need surgery? B, how could you actually bond this dragon? I don't even understand how, how could it be you? Well, I don't think we're at that point yet, right? Like he's kind of shocked. Like he's super angry with her at this point in time. But then there, there comes a point where he tries to like go to violet, I think, and look at all like menacing and like, yeah, right here when they're fighting exactly. So there, he's all pissed off. And he's like, you know, you like I would like, why are you hiding behind your teachers now? And all of this back and forth. And that's when, you know, Miss Professor Keohori was the one with dragon classes, kind of says, listen, your, your dragon is pretty aggressive, but Tairn is not going to doubt for a second to burn you along the path, I love the path of you there, like step close to her. So Jack's still, Jack is horrified. He just can't believe how this happened, right? And then he really wants this black dragon. Yeah, during the class, he was the one that was asking like, how can I bond with him? And why is you not bonding? I want to bond with the black dragon. So he is feeling all the envy, plot twills, plot twist here, the orange scorpion tail is actually going to be the one that kills Jack. Oh, you think his own dragon is just an off Jack? Oh my gosh. Well, we'll see how that happens. Yeah, that'd be cool. I love all these plots, but these ideas you got going on. Oh my theories. You're gonna have to write them all down. Okay, so now that they're discussing, does violin get two dragons or not, we learned something else that's new, which is, I thought was really neat, is that the dragons have their own kind of government or their own ruling leaders, the import imperium. Yeah, yeah, I was glad to be honest, right? Because I was like, I don't can't trust anybody in this fucking book to make the right positions, right? Like both Sorengale and the Melagrin. Well, I feel like they don't have any, you know, which is a little human. I agree. I mean, it would be wild if the humans had any sale for these creatures. Exactly, right? Like, so I'm glad that that's the case and the imperium hopefully makes the right call. Yeah. And so we see Kodak, which is a general Melagrin black dragon. It's like a giant, like the other biggest dragons, the one bigger than Taren. And before Taren leaves to go talk to the imperium, he's as stay close to the wing leader until we return. What were your thoughts on that? At first I didn't catch on right away that he meant Zaden, right? Because then Violet says like, oh, you mean squad? Yeah, exactly. And it's like, I know exactly who I meant or I know what I said. And to me was like, well, why is he like going over dame? Like, what is it that? Well, the wing leader is above dame. Yeah, no, I'm saying this. I'm trying to see. It's like, why is Taren like telling her to go with Zaden? Yeah, not Taren. Not Daine. So at this point, we take a little bit of a break between this whole Taren and dragon drama stuff because we see rye rye has bonded a dragon, a green dagger till dragon riddick. Which is the one that is a rotation. Yeah. Riddick bonded a brown sword tail. So he has his own dragon, Sawyer bonded a red sword tail. So we're hearing about Sawyer more. So now it's becoming a little bit of a bigger crew. And so anyway, all these people are bonded, which is exciting because we also care to make sure that they made it all the way through. And it's nice for Sawyer who obviously spends a year of bonding stuff. Didn't make it the first time. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. So she's kind of giving them the update. Like, by the way, Taren kills Tynan. This is what happened. These people were it was just like, and I've got now I've got two dragons that want me. Yeah, exactly. And so at this point, what happens is Dan Daine comes over and he's like, oh my gosh, they're gonna make you I don't even know how to not make a voice for him because he's he's just so frustrating at this point. And he's like, they're gonna make you choose. And I got panicked. I also was like, how's she gonna choose? Did you think that they were gonna make her choose when he said that? Well, when I knew there was an imperium, I was I was like, they're not gonna make her choose like they're just gonna decide for her, right? He still thought she was gonna get to keep one now both. Yes, I didn't think he had to keep both at this point. I mean, I was excited about the possibility. Yeah, I didn't think it would actually happen. Right. But when buddy comes around, he's telling her, I know, which like, choose the small one, choose the gold one. And the reason like, it's not even like, Oh, the gold one will be easier for you to like handle it, whatever. No, it's like, Oh, the gold one can't even fly. So maybe you'll be a professor. Fuck. This guy cannot even he doesn't even understand the insults. He like lays out what he talks. Yeah, like he should maybe like go reading memories. He knows how fucking annoying he is. Jesus. Yeah. And so, and then he's also the his reasoning and the reason he's freaking out about this is he says, if you take Taren, Zayden is going to get you killed, which, you know, at this point, we're kind of like, what is happening? And this is when he breaks the news that Taren and Segeil are made of pear. What you have just highlighted, like very deeply. I did. Talk, talk about a plot twist, right? I see that coming. No, no, I didn't zero. And yeah, actually your plot twist was that Segeil was going to leave Zayden. Yeah, exactly. I didn't. I think I was speechless when this was mentioned. I was glad. But then being fucking tethered to Dane. That's right. Yes. So, always, they're the strongest bonded parents entries and always stationed together. Always. Yeah, it was meant to be. They're always going to be together until maybe other things happen. Okay. No, I'm just kidding. I'm just saying. There's five books. We have two that we don't know. I don't even know what's going to happen. Okay, Zayden was there when you defend it on Darna. So now Dane is getting the story and he's like, Oh wait, Zayden was there. Then you know what he did. And then Zayden comes in and he's like, What are you accusing me of? Let's get this straight, right? Which I'm like, Oh, it's going down. Like, you know, and then Dane actually says you manipulated thrashing. Fucking Dane in his paranoia, right? Like, and his rules is obsession with the rules that he's like, Did you step in? And saying it's like, Did I what? Like, did you, you know, see her outnumbered and then, you know, try to manipulate things or manipulate things and then, you know, um, Zayden's just like, Listen, did I see her, you know, outnumbered? Yes, I did. Did I think that her bravery was admirable and also really reckless? Yes. Also, right? And then, why is that? I'd do it again. And then there's this famous quote from the book, which is when Zayden loses his composure for the first time in the entire series. And he says, Well, the fuck away. And just like, just, he's so frustrated at her. Yeah, putting herself in danger. In that position. Yeah, exactly. Because like, he, I don't think he didn't want her to be in that position in the first place, right? Like, uh, but he was there just in case. Yeah. And so this is when Zayden's like, Why are you blaming me for this? Segeal was there. Wouldn't you think that Segeal would also notice and would also call upon her mate? Yeah, come and figure what's going on with this little dragon. So yeah, this is when Dan's like, Oh, okay. And that's, that was not my mistake. No, but the best part is what's coming. Whoa, whoa, whoa. Right. And Zayden asks about. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. So this is when, yeah, go ahead. What was Zayden asks? Like, you know, here's your life, you know, lifelong best friend. Would you have bent the rules if it meant saving her? What the fuck does Dane say? Well, we expect him to say he says, No, I wouldn't have. Once again, ladies, he's not husband material. Do not marry a day. Do not marry a day. Do you have a day in your life? Say goodbye. Five years of a Zayden. Exactly. Go to a therapist first, make sure. And then, um, so violence, hard hits the ground because I mean, at the end of the day, this is her best friend. We have to remember, yes, we know Dane from this version of him in the writer's quadrant, but they've been stationed at different places as they were growing up as children. She had like a lifelong crush on him, you know, and so at the end of the day, she still really cares for him. He's been annoying as hell recently. Doesn't mean he gets to dictate her life. This is the moment. I think this is the moment she officially cannot see herself with someone who is like not going to save her life in a situation like that because of the rules, because of the rules, because of the rules, as if like for the who would see, it's not like they have cameras all around, knowing what people would do. We wouldn't do it. It's just a fact. They never live with himself. Yeah. And so this is the moment when she's like, no, no, no, it's fine. It's fine, but it isn't, right? And she knows it isn't. And so once she leaves, like, vibes annoying that Zayden pushed in that far and all the things. And Zayden is just like, I'm just trying to show you, you put way too much faith in this guy, right? And so, okay, so now we get back and the Imperium comes back, right? And she realizes, okay, let's go back. Let's see what's going on. I'm tethered to Zayden. I don't know what that means really long term, but here's how it how it goes. If she can keep both, like Taryn specifically. Yeah. And Zayden does tell her, you have to understand right now you are, you're the first person everyone's going to want to kill. Because, because Taryn is one of the most powerful. And we have 41 unbonded writers. Exactly. Which, I don't know what makes these unbonded writers think that, you know, if they didn't get chosen the first time around, the strongest fucking dragon is going to want to pick them, you know, like, maybe because we will, they say, obviously it's similar how they do in the, in the whole writer's quadrant where it's like, if you die, well, then you should weakness, you shouldn't have let yourself be killed. So if the strongest dragon bonds with Violet and then they kill her, then they can say, look, I killed the person you thought was the strongest. So, yeah, but I don't think Taryn would set off that. Like if Taryn, yeah, like if Taryn chose her because she saved the dragon. No, of course. Not a chance that he would choose someone who's a murderer. 100%. But they don't know that. They just think he's this big, be scary evil, not maybe not evil, but like super powerful, whatever dragon they don't know he. Maybe they put, you should put out like a newsletter. He just let everybody know so that like, there's no need for others in the mausolee. You should just send out a little voice note that it's like, I will not bond anyone else. Exactly. Do not kill my writer. I was always depending on bonding the first time around. So now he's, you know, she is, what is it, what do they say that when it's like what the person likes is suspect number one or the person that everybody wants to kill basically. Oh, yeah, yeah, she's like enemy number one, right? Let go. Yeah, enemy number one. There you go. So Zaden's like, you don't look very worried. And you know, she goes, well, it's a typical Wednesday. Everybody's always wondering for one reason or another. Him included, right? So, okay, so they come back and the Imperium has decided she gets to keep both dragons, which is a shock. But Melgrine, he says like, you know, usually, yes, or not usually like, you know, tradition has shown us that one dragon, one writer, one writer. But once again, he doesn't get to say, thankfully, dragon law. Yeah, there's no dragon law that they can't rule anything about dragons. So I don't know, this whole the whole discussion was for technicality. Yeah. And so yeah, she has two dragons. She has bonded two dragons, which is fucking insane. I know it's so cool. And I can't wait to see what their powers are going to be. Well, you mean her sickness? Her sickness. Well, she can have two of them. I don't know. There's two dragons. I don't know. But she does remember the there's magic. There's like regular, it's called Lester magic. It's like what allows you to, you know, do this or like amplify your voice. Yeah, a couple things like that. And then there's segments. And those are a blend between the dragon and the writer. So it's not that Taren always gives the same segment. He doesn't give it. It's actually produced by the writer. So it has to manifest and so on. But there's going to be two of them, I think. We don't know. There's two dragons. Well, you don't know. You're not telling nobody's bonded to dragons before. You're not telling me because you're going to vet this book when you find out the next four chapters.
