Meanwhile, Dane doubles down on being the worst, and we finally get a glimpse into dragon politics. From suffocating assassins to unexpected plot twists, this episode has it all—chaos, danger, and just a little sexual tension.

(Transcribed by TurboScribe.ai. Go Unlimited to remove this message.) Welcome to Pillow Talk and Paperbacks, the podcast where a husband and wife tackle romanticy books one dramatic chapter at a time. I'm Mary Angelica and I'm all in for an epic love story. And I'm Christian here to question every life choice these characters make. We're here for the plot twists, the chaos, and a whole lot of laughs. All after wrangling our three boys to bed and finally claiming the couch for ourselves. So get cozy, grab a book, and let me remind you why none of this makes any sense. Welcome back to episode five of the podcast where we are covering fourth wing for right now. We are covering chapters 18 through 21. My name is Mary Angelica. Hey, this is Christian. And it's actually been a few weeks since I read these four chapters because Christmas and New Year's, there's a lot going on. So some of this stuff may be a little fuzzy. Yeah. So as we go through it again, I think you'll probably remember, and maybe you have a immediate reaction. You're like, Oh yeah, what happened? I just, I know one thing for sure. And it's that I don't like Dane. Oh, okay. This theme continues. That's right. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Disdain for Dane. Disdain for Dane. Let's rename the podcast. All right. So we're starting it with chapter 18 and there's a part before every chapter where there's, we love this, right? It's like a little, a little blurb. It's so nice. It's either coming from, usually it's like a quote from a book and I love it because, you know, she was supposed to be in the archives. And so there's all these book quotes everywhere. Speaking of books, I'm wearing a hoodie right now that says book club and it's a green hoodie. And this is what I think the scribes probably wear on the weekend. Probably. When they're not like in the actual library. You know, it's like when Harry Potter, like the first movies, the first two movies, they are in their robes like all the time. And then movie three comes out and now they're like wearing sweaters and jeans. Like nobody gives a shit. Like at some point, like think about high school, you know, the first day of high school, you've got your backpack, you got all your, you know, books. By the fourth year of high school, do you even go? Like do you even show up? Do you want to tell our listeners what you have become? Why are you wearing this book club hoodie? Because I am a book nerd. So I've got three books on the go currently. So fourth wing. Before this, you were just not, I mean, you'd only just started to try to read a little bit more. Yeah. Yeah. And it was, well, so I took a break from social media. Right. And so it was like, Oh, so much free time when the kids are in bed. So I picked up a few books and I think I went through like three books in a matter of a month. They were not romantic. Far from it. And then Maria persisted that I read fourth wing and I did. Yeah. Oh, I'm sorry. Nobody called her Maria. Just me. Um, and, uh, the thing though is that because we have to, you know, I got, I got to read four chapters and we have to record. And since things don't always line up, I have a chance to read other books. Yeah. So I've got two other books on the go right now. So if I get any character names confused, which is so odd, I can not do that. By the way, I can't read two different books that I haven't read before. I can read two books if I've read one before. So if I'm doing a reread and then I'm reading a new one, then that's great. Cause I can then keep the stories apart, but I get way too invested, but they're so different, right? Like, so you've got fourth wing, which is, you know, romanticy and disdain for Dane. I'm reading everyone in my family has killed someone. I think that's the title and it's like a dark comedy, dark comedy mysteries, you know, who, who, who did it type thing. And then I'm reading one called, we are the animals, um, which is a super short book. It's only like 150 pages, but it's actually really good, but they're all totally different stories, which I think makes it easy to, you know, keep it apart. That's what makes us apart. That's what makes us different. What keeps us apart. Okay. So getting back to chapter 18, it starts with, there is nothing more sacred than the archives. Even temples can be rebuilt, but books cannot be rewritten. I love that quote. Well, good thing we have the internet now and we can just keep the books online. Okay. But anyways, back in the day, I mean, I love this. I love the sentiment anyways, around books, because I feel, I feel that, you know, around books are just so special. Okay. So we were starting with chapter 18 and what is happening here is we're in the archives. So we really haven't been to the archives very much in this book. You know, we keep hearing that this is like her home, but we haven't really been there. So now we're here because she's, uh, Violet actually has like a task. So she's no longer doing kitchen duty. Her task now is going to the archives to pick up books for the teachers and all of this. So what was your experience of reading about the archives? Do you remember anything about it? Or I don't, I don't, I think it's, I think it's like musty in there. No, quite the opposite. It is very, it's like a very peaceful place. Everyone's like, I think they're wearing like white robes or something. All the, um, the scribes. It's like a monastery type thing. I mean, it's a very kind of sacred space. They hold every book, every book ever made has a copy in the archives. Except the ones that general wants to hide. Right, exactly. So this is where we meet Jessinia and Jessinia is, if you remember it, I'll try to, you know, remind you, this was the other, the friend, a vice friend who they grew up kind of both wanting to get into the archives together. And so now Jessinia is living kind of this life that Violet would have had, had she gone into the archives. Yeah. And she communicates via sign language. Yeah. Which was neat for a character in the book. So we'll just, I love this for just the variety of, you know, just showcasing so many different experiences and different kinds of people. So they have Jessinia who signs and, you know, has sign language to communicate with through. We have some characters that are, you are described from very different ethnicities and you can tell that. And usually in books, it just, it isn't like that. Usually everybody's pretty much white and that's kind of how it goes. And there's like the one side character, but here are a lot of people you're described with like, you know, tight braids and things like that, that already kind of give you an idea without having to describe the skin color, which I think is a very neat part of Fourth Wing. I don't know if you've caught on to that, but. I mean, I. You'll have to get, you'll have to get an idea. Once you start reading again, just kind of take a look for the descriptions of the characters. Do you visualize a lot when you're reading? I do, I do. Yes. But I'll be honest. I don't think I've visualized any of the characters. I visualize, I visualize the settings where scenes are taking place. The dragons for sure. I've tried my best, but I don't think I've visualized any of the people. What the fuck is that? That's my medicine alarm. You're kidding. Okay. We're back. I just, I just snoozed it. I did not actually. She hasn't taken her medicine yet. So the alarm, wait, you said you snoozed it? No, no, no. I stopped it. Okay. It's going to go off again during the episode. Okay. All right. So, so we have Jessenia. We've met Jessenia and what we're here, we know she's, she's in here. She's looking for some books. But for the first thing is they haven't seen each other since obviously Violet went into the writer's quadrant. And so Jessenia looks at her kind of like, how are you? You know, this is kind of a scary place for her to be. But she's happy though. I mean, I think she was expecting like, Oh, I'm terrified. I don't know what to do. Yeah. She does say that. She's like, I'm happy. I'm bonded. And she's kind of just talking through, like, just realizing in this moment, I think that although she's kind of always had this vision of herself in the archives, she can't not see herself in her current situation, which is really neat. Yeah. It's a very different future than what she imagined, but it's the right one for her. Yeah. So she basically gives her the requests for the books that, you know, the professors are looking for and just kind of talks about some of her friends and what she's doing. And then she asks for a copy of a book called the Fables of the Baron. And this is a book that if you remember at the beginning of the, of the book, the movie of the book, Mira's like, get rid of these books. You're going to die. You're going to fall out of it because you're trying to carry all these books. And it's a book of fables that her dad gave to her. And she wanted to take it for sentimental reasons when she didn't. So she was looking for it at the archives. She can't find it. Why? Yeah, it's gone. Well, I think the general's up to something. And I think, well, Dane and the general, I told you they're in cahoots. I'm going to blame everything on Dane going forward. Okay. Obviously there's something there that he doesn't want. Yeah. His, uh, and just any, it seems shocked too, but it's not there. She's like, but we have every copy of every book. So it's recent. So something's happening as we speak. Maybe. Right. So we find out here that the book actually speaks of something called Wyvern, Venon, magic, and the battles of good and evil, you know, the good stuff. And just, and he was like, never heard of it. I'll look for it. And then she can't find it. Right. So once she's, she comes back and she's like, Oh, like I, I can't find this book. But, but wait, did, um, so Vi got rid of it? Like what did she burn it? She left it with her thing. So you remember she was packing, she had, she has a room there, like by her mom's, you know, whatever place. And she packed it up with all the rest of her stuff. Like she took it out of her pack. So she probably won't see it for the next like three or four years. Yeah, exactly. She probably wouldn't see it for a long time. Mira was with her when she got rid of all this stuff. Get yourself a Kindle and take it anywhere. But so yeah, so she can't find the book. And this is one of those things where, you know, they're like, okay, but only books that are, you know, forbidden are actually removed from here. So when did, you know, well, the list gets updated every morning. Forbidden books. Yeah. So they can get removed from the library, from the archives. I keep calling it a library. The archives. The archives. We also find something really interesting here about the archives. They want to protect the books from burning, right? The biggest, you know, fear is fire for these books. So every night at a certain part of the night, there's a certain time that this happens, they'll get locked, the doors get locked, and all the air gets sucked out of the archives. So it's a great place to be if there's ever like a dragon rebellion. Just go to the library. Yeah. Lock yourself in the in there. Yeah. Well, actually, you can't breathe. Oh, you can't breathe. Well, you suffocate or you get toasted by a dragon. I don't want to talk about which one I prefer. I would, you know, if I get like burned by a dragon, is it quick? Like, am I just ashes? I mean, it sounds like it based on the ones I've seen. Then I'll take that instead of suffocating. So at this point, you know, she she kind of feels a little bit of homesickness when she's looking around just because this is the place where she used to be with her dad all the time right in the archives. And on Darna kind of speaks to her in her mind. She's like, Hey, you're feeling sad. Like, no, it's okay. I just I'm visiting the archives. No need to worry. It's hard to love a second home as much as the first says on Darna, which is such a good quote. It's a great quote. You know, I think it speaks to a lot of obviously what she's going through. And a lot of people can relate to that. You know, I mean, you and I have moved 1000 times even before we met. So yeah, I mean, it is true. It's it is you have to kind of readjust around, you know, not missing the old place as much as you used to. So anyways, at this point, we find out, okay, only ultra rare or forbidden tomes, books are excluded. When did folklore become either of those? And so it's like, okay, weird, like, no wyvern, no venom, nothing. And so she's kind of like, Okay, that's weird. And that's it. And other than that, they just kind of have this little back and forth, where we get to meet Justinia as a character, a new character in the book. And if you remember, I told you from the intro of the book, where we see this book has been translated into like, the modern language or whatever by Justinia. Oh, no way. I don't remember that at all. Yeah, it's at the very, very start of the book. And it says, the following text has been faithfully transcribed from Nevarian into the modern language by Justinia Neil Ward, curator of the scribe science. Oh, sweet. Oh, she she makes it out alive. I guess. Yeah. She'll stick around. Okay. She says all events are true. And names have been preserved to honor the courage of those fallen. Well, I don't believe that it's true, but okay. It is true. Okay, this happened. Okay, so this is the bit with Justinia. And in this place right now, we have, I think it's Sawyer, who is with her and goes with her. I think it's like her bodyguards. No, just like a friend, but they are doing I think the rounds together. So you know, whenever I hear the name Sawyer, I just think of Lost. There was that one character who's super douchey. Yeah. It was it was Sawyer. But Sawyer is not douchey. I know. I know. But I'm just telling you that because of the name, I think he's douchey. But he's not. But tell that to my brain. Read the book. And you will know. Okay, so you know, there's Justinia speaks a little bit of, you know, the fear that she has for her friends and all this. And other than that, you know, it just is what it is. Once they meet back with their crew back in the lunch cafeteria, we we hear that there's some newbies, two first years and two second years that they took on when the third squad was dissolved. And they've refused to sit with them because they refuse to sit with anyone with the rebellion rhetoric. Exactly. So they are a little bit racist. Pretty much. I mean, yeah, they have. Yeah, they're, they're just, yeah, they're judging people before meeting them. So we have this interaction with Riddick and Sawyer. So we find out that Sawyer can manipulate metal. And they're talking about this as they're eating. And this is kind of cool. And we're starting to see some new signets. And I don't think I've seen much talk about swords in this book. But no, not a daggers, right? Because they're riding on dragons, daggers, they made of steel. Sure. They are. So he can manipulate. Yeah, I guess so. The daggers. Yeah, he can. Boom. But the point is, like, he, yes, he can manipulate metal and all the things. But no, they don't have swords. They do have daggers. So yeah, there's lots of he can manipulate in terms of weapons and things. So that's pretty cool, actually. So that's neat. He has any power and they're essentially tell us here that once the dragons put that relic on your back, that's when they can start channeling powers to you. But your signet has to kind of come to be, hopefully, before around six months, because if you don't, like something terrible is going to happen. It's Yeah, you've got like a timer going, like, you know, it's the clock is ticking. Yeah, like it is bomb. Yeah, exactly what it is. Okay, so I'm sure bank right before it goes off. And Reddick's like, it's always something around here. It's like something's always out to get us, you know. So we also find out that there's a new teacher, his name is Mr. Carr. And he's the one that's going to teach you about signets. And we find out that he's actually kind of cutthroat, like, yeah, we'll find out a little bit more about what happens with him. But yeah, he is a little bit much like that. So we do see, you know, that obviously, there's some unbonded, you know, people, a lot of them are still around, and able to, you know, be able to get a dragon after somebody dies, essentially. Jack Barlow is really excited because Carolyn Ashton was someone who was unbonded and now has a dragon. So Carolyn is obviously buddy-buddy with Jack. There's hope for me. Right? That's what he's thinking. Like, there's a chance. Jack is bonded. Oh, shit. Jack is bonded. He's just like excited about Carolyn. So they're just like, I just mistrust anyone who's friends with Jack. He's into Carolyn. I don't remember reading the name Carolyn in this book. No, she's not a main person. You know why? Because it's such a basic name. And everybody's got such unique names that I complain about all the time. Yeah. But maybe I just read Carolyn and I thought it was like something else. The names are either too wild or too basic. Or too basic. Yes. And I apologize if your name is Carolyn. Okay. So then what we have here is, what is this? Oh, we have a class where we see that Taryn continues to like dip his shoulder to help, you know, Vi get onto his back. And the move has been really practiced. And now she's not, she didn't even think about the fact that this is a different way to get on. And, you know, she's falling all the time off her dragon. And he's like, I'm, you know, Taryn's like, I'm training you for battle. He's seeking you parlor tricks. I'm here to like really get you ready for what it is. But he has to use magic to hold her onto him because otherwise she's going to go flying. And she's like, stop, like, I don't want you to do that. So let me try. And so it's happened. She says, she calls him a grumpy ass. And he says, this grumpy ass has just caught you a dozen times. She just stopped whining about it. Just like fucking. But she's afraid that if he keeps holding her with magic, then he's not going to have enough magic to be able to get rid of him. He's a massive dragon holding on like 120 pound girl on his back. I'm sure it is fine. I guess. But I think she's concerned that that's why she hasn't gotten a signet because there's so much of this magic being channeled elsewhere and not towards her, whatever it is. She is just afraid that anything is, you know, she needs therapy. Oh my gosh. She's lacking. That's fair. Everybody does. But so especially her. So, um, all right. So we get, um, he's landing after class and this is when Dane shows up and Dane is not happy. Can we skip this whole part about Dane? Do you remember this though? Cause this, you weren't too sure what was happening the first time that we heard the audio version. Yeah. Yeah. Dana's like, you didn't tell me you were falling. And she's like, well, everybody knows. Where have you been? And you should have told me, right? Like, and then she's like, what does it matter? You would have, you know, been upset either way. And, uh, yeah, like I feel like I'm like ignoring anything where Dana is. Cause I know what the next few pages are going to be about just him whining about something. Yeah, I guess. But it is, it is important to know, you know, to what extent he isn't, you know, listening to her. And we know this from the beginning, but in this case, even, even little lines. So there's a line here that, you know, he's like, you know, um, I don't know why Ryerson asked Imogen to train you. Like he doesn't have your best, the best interests. And he says, you know, even Amber lit into me about how you acted dishonorably in the gauntlet. And then she's like, dishonorably, like, fuck him. Like, like, fuck all of this. Like I went through that on my own and I figured it out and I stood by the codex, you know, and he's like, fine, you made it. Don't get me wrong. Even if you did it the wrong way, like all these little jabs, you know, and he's supposed to be the best friend. Yeah. She needs a restraining order ASAP on this guy. Well, she does kind of go off on him. Right. And she's like, listen, you are so enamored with the rules. You don't even know when to bend them. And I think she's still hurt by the fact that he said he wouldn't have interjected if she was going to die. Which, you know, I would have been too. And she says, this is the reason that we'll never be anything more than friends is because of your rules. And forgive me, but you're about to be some of the bullshit that this place cuts away from me. I'm glad, I'm glad she said it. She told him straight out how it is. Yeah, she has it. Something tells me that it's not going to work with Dane and he's going to keep coming back. But I mean, we haven't really seen her step up in this way yet and like speak Stand up for herself. Yeah. Directly at him, like not just giving him leeway. Like, oh, he just cares to me because he's my friend and whatever. Just like I've had enough. I've had enough of your negativity. Right. And then now we have the part where there's a guy screaming, make it stop, make it stop. And he starts reading people's minds. That was wild. I mean, well, so the guy was at first I was like, why, why is he, you know, screaming so much? Why? What's the big fuzz about? And then when I found out he was able to, you know, hear people's thoughts, I was like, that's a really cool fucking power. And then you quickly find out that it's a, well, actually it's a deadly power. So you're not going to have it for very long. I know. Which is like, you can't even pick them. So, so it's like a fucking death sentence. Exactly. And at this point, like, can he go back and he say like, fuck this, I'm going to describe or whatever the quadrants are, but you're done. Like you're diarrhea. Yeah. Yeah. And at this point when this is happening, right. He actually reads some of Dane's thoughts. So Dane has just had this fight, you know, with, uh, uh, with, um, violet, with violet. Exactly. And let me see somewhere in here. Like, he's like reading different people's thoughts, right. He's like, and you and this and it's chaotic. It's messy. Yeah, exactly. And so he reads some thoughts like, Oh, is she ever going to like, whatever, something about, you know, violet. And then Zane, um, Zayden shows up and Zayden is like, violet, if you want to value your secrets, start thinking about something else. Run. Well, he actually just tells her to like, just think about other things. Oh, cause thoughts. That's right. It's not memories. Yeah, exactly. It's thoughts. So it's like, just start thinking. And so she starts like reciting her books. Right. And that's how she gets out of it. And then he dies. Then Mr. Carr, is that his name? Yeah. How do you spell that? C-A-R-R. Now I'm just going to picture my really good friend. Uh, I'll call him Mr. Carr. Mr. Carr. Every time I, but, but Carr is way too sweet and nice to be associated with this Professor Carr. Yeah. Um, who just fucking just killed someone. Exactly. Poor guy. Do we even know his name? The kid's name who just died? Yeah. I mean, I'm calling him a kid. I don't know what his age is. Jeremiah. Poor Jeremiah. Jeremiah. Jeremiah's gone. Oh Jesus. So, okay. So then what we have next is a pretty awesome, like exciting scene, which is where I can't believe we're still in chapter 18, but it's just a lot happens in this chapter. You know, the other, I know chapter 21 is kind of like, but this one is when she's having the dream. She's with her dad and she's dreaming about something with the archives. And then she gets told by Tan, like, wake up, wake up, tell me, because you remember this. Yes, I do. And I've read it a couple of times, um, to make sure that I, well, um, if you were Jeremiah, you would know, uh, but he's not here. So seven cadets are in her room. Yeah. So she was having a dream and, uh, and Darna comes in. What's that Darna or Taryn comes in and he's like, wake up, wake up. And then she wakes up and like, Oh shoot. Yeah. I'm about to be murdered. Right. So there's a bunch of people in her room and obviously they want to, you know, off with her head because everybody hates her. Well, it's mostly, they want Taryn. Taryn is the most powerful dragon. Yeah. But even before she had Taryn, people were out to get her. Yes. But now it's even people that don't even have the rebellion relic as a reason to want to kill her. It's just any unbonded, anyone. Yeah. So, so I mean quite an intense scene, right? Like she, she gets up and she's trying to fight this guy and she's got her daggers and she's like launching them everywhere. And she does hurt people and she hurts quite a few of them. She makes quite a few of them bleed and drop to their knees or whatever. She can fight, like she can fight. She can defend herself. These are the moments you realize, like she's one against seven and she's not dead yet. We're still reading. So good. Yeah. But there was this guy who tried like, he was like suffocating her. Yes. Pretty much. Right. Well, actually at first she says that one girl just like she, like she saw her and then she fled. Like the girl fled. We don't know who it was. We just kind of get a hint that Vi knew her, which we find out later who it was. But yes, Auryn. You know, when I read that at first I was like, oh, please don't let it be her friend. You thought it was Rai. I thought it was Rai. Is that her name? Yeah. Yeah. Um, or Rhi, Rhi, Rhi. Rhi, Rhi. Yes. And I was like, please don't let it be her. Like that would be painful. Like that would be quite the backstabbing. I know, you were, you were really sure. I really thought it was Rhi. Cause I was like, oh, we, I don't think we had like a proper plot twist in a few chapters aside from, you know, her having two dragons. But, um, so I thought it was coming, but no, no. So Auryn is the one that she let live during threshing. And you know, here he is literally suffocating her. And then, you know, Taryn's like, there's so much panic in this scene to like, Taryn is freaking out. Right. Because, you know, and he's trying to help her and coach her. He's like, he's almost there. And she's like, who, I can't even think about who you're talking about. And then, you know, Auryn's like, okay, your dragon's mine. Holds the blade to her neck. Right. It's going to start to slice. And all you hear is like, well, what she hears is mine. And Nandana screams in her head. And up next, everyone is frozen. You read that like three times. You were reading it out loud. Whoops. You were reading it out loud in bed. I remember. Yeah. Cause I was like, hold on a second. Did she freeze time? Did she just freeze the people that are in the room? Yeah. Do you want to tell the people your love of time travel stuff? Yeah. Fuck. I thought I fucking hate time travel. I don't get it. It doesn't make sense. We're just freezing time. Good. Yeah. Not better be somebody's fucking. You have questions around who else was frozen. But yeah, because like, if you're freezing time, are you freezing everybody in the world? Like if somebody froze time right now, would you and I stop talking? Yes. So, okay. But different time zones, does that matter? Everyone in the world would be frozen in time. It talks about how the clock was not moving. Right. So time stopped. It's like thinking about every clock in the world. It's just stopped. Everyone stopped for a moment. Not that everyone wouldn't, wouldn't even know the difference. Right. Like no true. Yeah. We're doing like a timed race somewhere in the world. Something they'd be like, wait, what happened? Wild power. Okay. So that's how it ends. And we're kind of like, what just happened? And this was pretty epic. Like we haven't had this kind of, you know, persecution in this way, like really since threshing. Um, so we go to chapter 19, chapter 19 is she's also confused. She's like, what the hell is even happening? And on darkness, like, hurry up. Like I can't hold it. And that's when she's like, well, she's doing this. Like, what do I do? So she runs out. And when she gets to the front of her door, she sees that the data is actually he's frozen, but he's there at the front of her door and then time comes back. And then he has questions. Well, first he's like, let me go ahead and kill some people. Yeah. First he says, you are, what did he say? You're all fucking dead. Yeah. And, and he goes within, I would say seconds, it's about damn time. Yeah. But I think, you know, aside, obviously they're all going to die, whatever. But I think Zayden at this point is more curious about how did she just get here? Well, yeah, that part he's, he does have a moment of that and then he's filled with rage, right? He's just like, he is filled with like lethal rage. Like everyone can see it. Right. He says it's against our codex to kill people in their sleep. And just like dragons don't make mistakes. Cause you know, Orin's trying to say like, Oh, you know, the dragon made a mistake. They should never have bonded her and all the things. And let me explain. And it's like, she should have killed you in the field, but she's merciful. That is not a flaw that I possess. Yeah. Yeah. So well, now she owes him big time. I mean, this is huge. Well, hold on a second. No, she's alive because Andarna. She doesn't really owe him, but do you think she would have killed, let's say Zayden didn't show up? No, she would have just run away. She wouldn't have just gone and killed everyone when they were frozen. She barely kills them when she can. She's been stabbing them. She's just not stabbing them in lethal places. Yeah. So that is a flaw then. Yeah. And she does talk about it. You know, at one point Zayden does say like, I noticed you, you were able to draw blood a ton of times, but you never went for a killing shot. And she's like, well, I haven't killed anyone, you know, and I don't want to kill anyone. So you're going to have to get over that pretty quick around here. So Garrick shows up and he's like, damn Zayden, like you don't even have any time for questioning with these people. And he's like, it wasn't necessary. Like we're done just clean up the bodies and that's it. And then we have this sweet moment where Zayden's just trying to figure out if she's okay, but he's so concerned. Come on. Christian? What do you want him to say? Wasn't it lovely? Just the cutest. Just the cutest. What do you think about him? You know, helping her. She's like paralyzed with fear. She just almost died. These two obviously are into each other and they're both playing hard to get. They're both playing. I'm not interested, but they both know they want each other. So I'm like, just fucking cut the bullshit out and just get together. It's complicated, Christian. What's complicated? Um, there's like history and this like dislike. They also get in each other's nerves a ton. So yeah, so do we. Yeah. But they don't know that that's how it's like. They're young. They're 21. Yeah. We were like 18. So, you know, I just love it. Okay. Whatever. For anyone else listening that is obsessed with the scene, I'm obsessed too. Okay. It's super sweet. He's like trying to find out if she's hurt. He's trying, like, it's the first time you really see his concern for, um, his concern for, um, for Vi and just for her wellbeing. Cause now the other times he's so passive about everything. Yeah. Cause this is the one time where she actually could have died. Yeah. And the other, only other time was threshing and he was there ready to defend her as well. So it's just, it's just, it's almost like he can't help it, but he's annoyed about not being able to help it. But now he's just, anyway, it's a very nice tension that happens in this scene where, you know, he's like, cause he has to take off the corset and check that her ribs are broken. Yeah. They have this nice walk back to her room, I think. And then he's helping her get undressed and then he starts to like massage her back. I think. Well, he just mostly checks her over and you know, he's like, he has to touch her back cause he's putting the corset on and off or whatever. But anyways, so aside from all of this, he's like, okay, you're coming with me. Like, let's go. We're going on a walk. And she's like, you know, she's like limping or whatever she's doing. Cause she's always hurt. And it does say, you know, it's going to take weeks for her ribs to fully heal. You know what I, what I picture when I picture her walking like Quasimodo. No way, Christian. She's always, she's always aching somewhere. Well, yes, but she doesn't walk all hunched up like that. Quasimodo walks like he's hurt. Remember that she puts off a front of being very like, she's like not in pain. Right. So no, she's not going to walk where she's visibly in pain. That would be to show a weakness. So she has to bear it and walk normal. But I love Quasimodo. Okay. So we find out there's like a hidden door. Remember? Yes. Yes. So he's probably, he probably uses it quite a bit to escape or he's always on his little night scapades. And then where was he right now? Cause he was all dressed up. Like he was in his nightgown. Right. Exactly. She does question that too. So yeah. And so they, they get out of the castle. It's a castle. I'm going to call it a castle. It's a castle. Yeah. They get out. And one of the things too, is I think he's, he's so frustrated at this point that he's not really watching what he's saying in a way. So he's like, keep up. And you know, she's like, well, you could, you know, and she's kind of in pain and she's like, kind of like, help me be a little bit more considerate, like walk a little slower. He's like, I'm not going to baby you like Atos does.
